Computer is OFF T-shirt

Part of the Computer is Off capsule, this relaxed T-shirt brings together experimental garment dyeing, hand-finished details and the capsule’s exploration of our relationship with technology.

The garment is dyed using two colours that interact across the surface to create an irregular, cracked effect. The result sits somewhere between black and deep purple, with subtle variations that make each garment slightly different. A washing process softens the cotton further, giving the T-shirt an exceptionally soft, lived-in hand feel.

Stitching around the neckline introduces a subtle crafted detail, while the back carries the complete Computer is Off collage. Originally assembled by hand, the artwork combines torn photographs of nature, including aerial landscapes whose forms unexpectedly resemble switches and circuitry.

A found strip of text within the collage was physically altered to reveal the phrase “memory is lost / computer is off.” The artwork reflects the idea at the centre of the capsule: as more of our memories and everyday lives exist inside machines, switching off can become a way of reconnecting with the physical world.
